So long i´ve been away from home,
to escape my daily grind,
can´t stand no more the sameness there,
the sea is my only friend.
I hoist the sails of my old ship,
can´t wait to leave my bay,
never think of all i´ve got,
at place of lifelong stay.
Thirty days an nights i´ve been away from home,
up and down my ship is going, far across the foam.
Don´t know where wind is leading me, (need) no compass all the way,
there´s no place on earth, where I rather be.
I´m shipping thru a desert of
fear and dark blue sea,
don´t know where wind is blowing me,
the ship and me, we´re free.
All around is nothing than,
deep water, wind and spray,
I´m standing on the deck and dream,
of pubs, warm hands and pray.
Thirty days an nights i´ve been away from home,
up and down my ship is going, far across the foam.
Don´t know where wind is leading me, (need) no compass all the way,
there´s no place on earth, where I rather be.
Now I know what i´ve got,
my friends and family,
the way back home is far and hard,
think of it eagerly.
Empty bottles, empty barrels,
my hope is nearly gone,
but there it is, my dingle bay,
my journey is nearly done.
Thirty days an nights i´ve been away from home,
up and down my ship is going, far across the foam.
Don´t know where wind is leading me, (need) no compass all the way,
there´s no place on earth, where I rather be.
